Gardener Job in Orlando, Florida

I have fake grass for my front yard but tropical plants in areas around it that need love and care and remove any dead items and replace them with ferns etc. I have a lot of weeds around tropical plants and trees that once dealt with would LOVE any suggestions of what to put there instead that would prohibit weed growth and not damage tropical plants. Some type of ground covering perhaps.
