Gardener Job in Houston, Texas

My (startup) company is seeking a Gardener to join our Grow Operations team based in the Montrose area of Houston, TX. This is a part-time role with compensated "on call" hours that will likely grow into a full-time position. The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties: - Performing horticultural duties such as planting, pruning, fertilization, watering, and other tasks needed for general care and maintenance of our edible raised beds. - Observing potential plant problems, such as fungal or pest problems and reporting them promptly to the Grow Operations Lead. - Treating plant or pest problems as instructed by the Grow Operations Lead. - Conversing with customers, and fostering an upbeat and educational environment. Ideal Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: - Knowledge of edible vegetables and herbs grown in the Houston area. - Ability to communicate plant or pest problems in a timely manner. - Desire to learn about producing more delicious and nutritious food. - Review planting plans and provide updates on plant and pest problems. Ideal Education and Experience: - Some previous gardening experience required, either professional or personal. - Preferred experience with Houston area gardening or southern gardens of a comparable quality. Requirements: - Licensed driver with car (mileage will be reimbursed). - Organized, self-motivated, and punctual. - Willingness and proven ability to absorb training protocols. - Availability to work weekends when applicable. - Everything you need to know about this role will be explained to you in person and included in written protocols.
