Looking to help out some (preferably local) folks with their gardens this Summer. I'm probably the best yard worker you'll find for 10/hr**. I'm by no means a professional handyman, but I have a lot of miscellaneous skills and an open mind.
Last year I got my B.S. in environmental science, focus in ecological design. (At the University of Vermont, if you're curious) This basically means I learned about ecology and small-scale farming. Gardening has become my favorite hobby in the last few years, and I once lived and worked on an organic farm for a couple months. I'm only 23, and I realize that I still lack a lot of conventional wisdom, but I like to think I know my stuff for someone my age. If you want help planning your yard, I'd love to help you out. I get a kick out of designing around someone else's wants and needs, then helping to make it happen. I'm especially interested in food production. It's definitely not too late to get a vegetable garden going!
** I charge 12/hr for any consulting, planning, and creative work; and for difficult or technical odd jobs. 10/hr for... you know. Yard work. And I'll probably charge you extra if you're far from me. I might be interested in other work, too. I'm great at painting and moving heavy things. I generally get along with children and animals (ask me about math, science, piano, or martial arts tutoring). Disclaimer: I have a lot of my own yard equipment, but no car at this time. Plenty of friends/relatives with cars, though.
